Counting calories isn’t necessarily the best way. The KIND of calories you eat, such as lots of veggies, lean protein, fruit, skim milk, whole grain carbs that make up those calories are very important. I used to not think so, and I’ve lost a large amount of weight 3 times in my life. This time, however, I have continued to eat healthy and exercise and the weight has stayed off. So, you have to change your MINDSET and way you think about eating. You are not on a diet, per se, you are eating in a healthy way that you will continue even after you’ve lost your weight.
As for the exercise, treadmill is good, as is just about any other aerobic activity you can engage in. However, on alternate days, I highly recommend strength training. As you lose weight, if you are developing lean muscle, your metabolism will increase as your body has to work harder, even at rest, to maintain lean muscle than it works to maintain fat. Most people make the mistake of neglecting to strength train. I am a firm believer in it.
Hi Aimee,
Are you writing down what you eat and what exercise you do every day? A recent study showed that people who go to the effort of documenting what they eat lose twice as much weight. But I think part of that success stems not just from the documentation itself but from then adjusting their diet and/or exercise routine. So, say you consume 1600 calories a day, and your weight remains static. If you’ve documented what you’re eating every day, you can more easily identify what it is that’s keeping you from losing weight. In the link below, there’s a link to a program at Prevention.com where it will help you adjust your diet and fitness routine like this. Good luck!

Three steps that have really helped me are dieting, exercising, and the correct weight loss supplement for losing weight. Focus on those three things and you will lose weight considerably. I exercise 30 mins a day along with taking Proactol, a natural weight loss supplement that I saved money on at theweightlossplace.com
Good luck and stay focused = )
Reevaluate what’s satisfying to you, 1 pound per week is what you should be aiming for. Don’t weigh yourself everyday, try once a week (or two) first thing in the morning. It would be best to never weigh yourself imo, mirror > scale.
Eat 6 times daily, 2-3 hours apart, drink water over everything else. Keep up the cardio. Find your BMR and how much you burn from exercise, then eat 500 less, but don’t go below 1200. register at http://fitday.com, keep your foods at around 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat. Carbs from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Protein from lean chicken/turkey breast, eggs, nuts, and fish. Fats from natural peanut butter, eggs, oils, and nuts. Do a lot of research on macronutrients. Don’t buy into starving/pills/surgery etc. Don’t skip/binge/cheat.
I have found using a food journal to be quite helpful. I wrote about my endeavors with a food journal on my buzz post athttp://buzz.prevention.com/community/sin…
I have used several of their programs, most have rocked, some didnt — so overall, I say that they are safe to do business with and have good programs.
Just keep at it. Don’t drink any drinks which contain sugar, including fruit juice.
